Job Description

Pastry bakers are culinary professionals responsible for preparing and baking a variety of sweet treats and baked goods. They work in kitchens, bakeries, cafes, and other food service establishments, using their skills and creativity to delight customers with delicious and visually appealing desserts.

Responsibilities:

Production:
Follows recipes to bake breads, cakes, cookies, pies, pastries, and other sweet treats.
Mixes doughs, batters, and fillings, ensuring accurate measurements and proper techniques.
Operates ovens, proofers, and other baking equipment safely and efficiently.
Monitors baking times and temperatures to achieve consistent results.
Decorates pastries with icings, glazes, frostings, fruits, and other embellishments.
Maintains high standards for quality and presentation.
Inventory and Sanitation:
Maintains stock of ingredients and supplies, ordering necessary items as needed.
Prepares ingredients by portioning, measuring, and weighing.
Cleans and sanitizes work surfaces, equipment, and utensils according to food safety regulations.
Additional Duties:
May assist with other kitchen tasks as needed.
May contribute to recipe development and menu planning.
May train and supervise other baking staff.
Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
At least 1-2 years of experience as a pastry baker or in a similar role.
Strong understanding of baking principles and techniques.
Excellent knowledge of different ingredients and their properties.
Proficient in using various baking equipment.
Strong attention to detail and a keen eye for aesthetics.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent time management and organizational skills.
Physically fit and able to stand for long periods in a warm environment.
Positive attitude and willingness to learn.
